9/7-8、米Portlandホテル構内にてインディーズ対象podcastingイベント開催：Podcast Hotel

インディーズ音楽が盛んな米を活動拠点にするPodcast Hotelは、2005年9月7日・8日、PortlandにあるJupiter Hotelを使い、インディーズミュージシャンを主な対象としたポッドキャスティングイベント、Podcast Hotel Presents Podcast Jamsを行う。
参加者はこのイベントに参加することで以下の点を学ぶことができる：
- インディーズミュージシャンやアーティストはどのようにして、ポッドキャストを使い従来よりも遥かに広い観客を獲得しているか
- 集まったミュージシャンを含めた参加者全員で複数の番組を録音する
- ポッドキャスト専門家がポッドキャストの作り方をMacとwindowsそれぞれを使って実演
- ポッドキャスト制作にかかる費用、必要な機材紹介
- 専門家を交え、ポッドキャスティングにおける著作権とライセンスの問題を議論
自分の作品を発表する媒体としてポッドキャストを使用する際、考慮すべき重要な項目に重点が置かれている所に注目したい。
7日は、Jupiter Hotel構内にあるレストランDoug Firにて、workshopや討論会を、8日はホテル近くのクラブSabala'sにて、インディーズミュージシャンを招待し「live Podcast Jam」を行う予定。演奏は収録されポッドキャストされる。
ポッドキャスト界からは、先日ポッドキャスティング事業を開始すると発表したJ-streamと提携しているAudioblog.comからEric Rice氏も参加する。（関連記事：Audioblog.com secures funding to launch podcast and videoblog service and portal in Japan, Korea and China）。
Podcast Hotelは元々、Portlandにあるホテルを一夜限りのポッドキャストスタジオに変えてしまおう、という面白い案から始まった。（関連記事）。
主催者Alex Williams氏に、ホテルポッドキャストスタジオ化について問い合わせた所：
「元々はJupiter Hotelそのものを会場に使う計画だったし、今後もJupiter Hotelの何部屋かをポッドキャストスタジオに変えるつもり。」「但し主にPodcast Hotelは、人々が音楽や番組を投稿できるオンライン上の仮想ホテルになる。」
との回答を頂いた。
また「世界中の人にも音楽をPodcast Hotelに投稿してもらいたい」と、活動は範囲をPortlandに限らず、インディーズ音楽を支援する姿勢を軸に展開していくようだ。
このイベントはPodcastingコミュニティでも度々取り上げられており、9月17日に欧州発のポッドキャスティングカンファレンスを行うPodcastCon UKも声援を送っている。（記事： Good luck at the Podcast Hotel）。
反響や体験記など、イベント後記をPodiumでも是非紹介していきたい。Podiumが主催するポッドキャスティングイベントは9月22日19:00-20:00、大阪心斎橋Apple Storeで開催される。（参加者募集中）

It was very interesting to listen to the recording of the Podcast Jams, especially when the singer said something like - podcasting has brought independent artists and musicians a new opportunity to meet a much wider audience but it means that the quality of their work is much required, ever.
The same thing can be said about an amateur news blog like ours too.
